LAGOON OF SIMBOKEL FALLS

If you will be ever in the municipality of Marcos, Ilocos Norte and want to find a real hidden gem, you need to check out Simbokel Falls in Barangay Elizabeth, Marcos, Ilocos Norte. It is tucked away in these lush green forests, and honestly, it feels like you are stepping into a peaceful little escape. Best part? It is only about a 10-15 minute walk through, so it’s super easy to get to.

The waterfall drops into this amazingly clear lagoon, and on a hot day, that cold water is everything. There is something really mesmerizing about watching the water crash down almost like it just pulls you in with the sound. Compared to other Falls, which is a solid few hours to reach, Simbokel is way more accessible. If you just have a short time to unwind or just do not feel like hiking too long, this place is perfect.

Locals say the name “Simbokel” comes from the shape of the waterfall’s basin, it’s round, like a “bokel,” which means round object. Others think it’s because of the big rocks around the falls.
